Hi, I’m Lesley Wallace, a financial coach and educator, and the founder of Lesley’s Money Matters.
I help people overcome financial overwhelm and build a money life that actually fits their real life. I’m not pushing someone else’s version of success. I’m leading you to find your own.
I’ll always be honest about my own story so you feel safe being honest about yours. Real conversations require courage on both sides, and I’m not asking you to go anywhere I haven’t been willing to go myself.
I spent 20+ years in technology and a decade of that coaching teams through their toughest challenges at work. I navigated debt, a cross-country move that didn’t go as planned, a multiple sclerosis diagnosis, and the financial complexity of being sandwiched between young children and an aging parent, all while building toward something called FINE: Financial Independence, Next Endeavor. For me, financial independence wasn’t the finish line. It was the starting line for this work.
I’ve been the person friends and family call about money for as long as I can remember.
That journey is why I do this, and it’s why I understand that financial progress doesn’t happen in a straight line, especially when life does what it does and keeps throwing things at you.
Most of my conversations meet people before they feel ready for traditional financial planning. Maybe you’re early in your journey. Maybe you’ve tried to get help, but your net worth sets you below the thresholds required by traditional financial planners. Maybe you’ve been told your situation is too complicated, too small, or too different. Financial coaching starts exactly where you are, with no minimum portfolio required.
I am here for the people traditional finance tends to overlook. I proudly serve women, LGBTQIA+ clients, and people in non-traditional relationships and family structures. I serve people living with chronic conditions who know that health and financial wellbeing are deeply connected. I serve lower income households and people who just need a leg up, because access to good financial education shouldn’t depend on how much you already have.
I also love working with technology and consulting professionals. You’re sharp, analytical, and excellent at your job, but odds are nobody ever taught you how to manage your money, navigate your benefits, or think strategically about what your income is actually doing for you. That changes here.
Whoever you are and however you got here, your whole self is welcome.
My approach comes down to three words: Courage. Respect. Endurance.
Courage to have honest conversations about money, on both sides of the table. Respect for where you are, how you got there, and what you’re working toward. Endurance, because I know from my own life that the most meaningful financial progress happens not in one dramatic moment, but through showing up consistently, especially on the hard days.
I completed my financial planning education at Boston University Metropolitan College and am working toward both CFP and AFC certifications. I work entirely fee-only: no commissions, no product sales, no assets under management, ever. My only motivation is to help you.
