About Me
Hi, I’m Lesley Wallace, a financial coach and educator, and the founder of Lesley’s Money Matters. I help people overcome financial overwhelm and build a money life that fits their real life. Financial coaching starts exactly where you are. No minimum portfolio required.
I’m here for the people traditional finance tends to overlook. I proudly serve women, LGBTQIA+ clients, people in non-traditional relationships and family structures, people living with chronic conditions, and lower income households who just need a leg up. I also love working with technology and consulting professionals who are sharp and analytical but were never taught how to manage money or navigate benefits. Whoever you are and however you got here, your whole self is welcome.
My approach comes down to three words: Courage, Respect, and Endurance. Courage for honest conversations about money, on both sides. Respect for where you are and how you got there. Endurance, because meaningful progress happens through showing up consistently, not in one dramatic moment.
I completed my financial planning education at Boston University Metropolitan College and am working toward my Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification, with plans to expand into comprehensive financial planning as that certification is completed.
I work entirely fee-only. No commissions. No product sales. No judgment. Just honest, practical support for wherever you are on your financial journey.
Outside of work, I’m navigating my own version of financial complexity: married 12 years, two small kids (4 years and 7 months), two cats, one very big, very fluffy dog, and a close extended family that includes parents navigating their own retirement transition. I know what it’s like to make money decisions in the middle of real life, not a spreadsheet.

Financial coaching is a good fit if money brings up anxiety, avoidance, or just a sense of not knowing where to start. It’s also a strong fit if no one ever taught you the basics of how money decisions actually work. A lot of what I do is part education, part working through the emotional side of money, so it’s built for people who feel behind or overwhelmed and want to build both knowledge and confidence, not just a plan. It’s less of a fit if you’re looking for specific investment recommendations, tax filing, or legal advice; for those, I’ll point you toward the right kind of professional.
No. This is financial coaching and education, not investment advisory services. I’m not registered with FINRA or the SEC, and I never hold, manage, or have the ability to buy or sell investments on your behalf. I can educate on various investment strategies, but you will own investment decisions. If your needs go beyond coaching, such as tax prep, legal advice, or investment management, I’ll refer you to a qualified professional.
No, and I’d be cautious of anyone who does. Coaching is educational and supportive. Your outcomes depend on the actions you take, and fees are for the time and guidance itself, not tied to performance.
It means you’re the only one paying me. I don’t earn commissions, referral fees, or compensation from any financial product or company. When I share an observation, the only reason is that it’s useful to you, not because it benefits me.
Conversations happen by video call. Between sessions, email is the best way to reach me, and I respond within 2 business days.
Not yet. I completed my financial planning education at Boston University Metropolitan College and am sitting for the CFP® exam in November 2026. I am working toward full CFP® certification. In the meantime, I work as a financial coach and educator, which is distinct from a licensed financial planner or investment advisor.
Your engagement runs a fixed term, three months for Foundation Builder or six months for Growth Partnership, and ends automatically unless we agree in writing to renew or extend it. Conversations must be scheduled and completed within 90 days of your term ending; after that, unused sessions aren’t eligible for a refund.
Either of us can cancel with 30 days written notice by email. You’ll keep full access through the entire notice period, and you’ll be refunded for any complete months remaining after that. Partial months aren’t refunded, and once a conversation happens, that session’s fee is non-refundable.
